    Past

    • 2013: Retrospective cohort analysis of Tran-examic acid (TXA) in total joint arthroplasty. Rhode Island Hospital Orthopedic Foundation, Inc., $2500. Role: Senior Author and Co-PI.
      • This was a retrospective cohort research project designed to assess the clinical impact of TXA on the total joint center with regard to transfusion rates, blood component management, and clinical outcomes following elective total joint replacement. In 2014, clinical data and a cost benefit analysis derived from the project were published in the Journal of Arthroplasty, and two further sub-group analyses were also published in Reconstructive Review.
    • 2014: “MRI Measurement of Knee Ligament Health in Osteoarthritis.” Rhode Island Medical Imaging, Seed Grant, $5000. Role: Senior Author, Co-PI, Lead Clinician.
      • This project focused on the role of MRI in creating a volumetric assessment of cruciate ligament strength within the arthritic adult knee. The goal was to compare MRI data to ACL ligament failure strength testing on 15 cadaver knees, and to compare MRI data on 15 native arthritic knees to subsequent histology on harvested cruciate ligaments. Porcine data from the initial ACL focused project was published to validate the model and proprietary MRI software, and human data derived from this project was subsequently published in the Journal of Biomechanics in 2015.
